origami bistro & bar aiming for july 25th opening

Capping a lengthy build-out in the Douglas Building at 3rd and Spring, Origami Bistro & Bar is gearing up for a July 25th opening date — that is, if staffing works out as planned.
While the new location will have a slightly different feel from the original Santa Clarita venue, the basics are the same: Small plates, crab cakes, tiny steaks and sushi.
A large sushi bar will offer an alternative to nearby Little Tokyo restaurants, specializing in rare and uncommon dishes, and a martini bar in the back lets guests lounge on low bench seating and leather-topped tables.
Origami Bistro & Bar joins coffee shop Lot 44 in the ground floor of the Douglas Building, which is starting to see its remaining retail spaces progress.
Back in February we talked with owner Brian Lee about his vision for the space and his projected timeline, and though he’s missed that by over three months due to city inspection issues, Downtown’s ready for more excitement.
