Dia de los Muertos celebration, Olvera Street, Downtown Los AngelesJoin the Olvera Street vendors and the city of Los Angeles for Dia de los Muertos celebrations, a celebration of life and an honoring of the deceased, running nightly from 7:00 to 9:00 pm until November 2 at La Placita Olvera.

The Plaza offers Downtown Los Angeles’s main Dia de los Muertos events, from traditional Aztec dance and music to costumes, altars, puppets and processions.

On the other side of the Plaza, El Pueblo Historic Monument presents Sacred Memory: Honoring the Dead Across Cultures (PDF file), a temporary art exhibit at the Pico House Gallery showcasing Mexican culture and Dia de los Muertos as it has evolved over centuries, and also takes a look at the ways in which several other cultures deal with death and dying. The exhibit runs daily until November 19, 10:00 am to 3:00 pm.
