Main Street between First and Third has been active lately, with the LAPD Headquarters building and the ImaginAsian Center — formerly the Linda Lea Theater — coming along nicely.

Last night I noticed that the new facade is going up on the Hodgetts + Fung-designed transformation of the historic theater, so this morning I went down and took some quick shots of the arts/cinema venue.

Construction is starting to move briskly, with crews shooting for a December opening date. The renovation will add a modern glass facade (rendering above, right) with an entrance that opens onto Main Street.

More photos of the theater during its earlier construction phases here.

A couple blocks up, the LAPD Headquarters Building — Parker Center’s replacement structure — is making an impact on the neighborhood with the south tower already topped out at 12 floors.

Construction crews have started installing the diagonal roof structure on the south building, which will outline the public plaza from Second and Main to First and Spring.
