dodger stadium trolley service resumes on game days

Dodger Stadium may be Downtown adjacent, but its location in Chavez Ravine makes it nearly impossible to access on foot or via city bus — and $15 parking per auto proves owner Frank McCourt is well aware of that fact.

Fortunately, there’s good news for all you blue-thinking Dodger fans wanting to act green.

Free trolley service from Union Station will be restored tomorrow, July 25, enabling game-goers to easily connect from Metro Rail, Metrolink, DASH shuttles and several city bus lines.

The route spans nearly two miles, following Sunset Boulevard up to Elysian Park Avenue with a couple stops along the way, leading to a total estimated trip time of 16 to 19 minutes.

Shuttles will be operated by LADOT for the 32 remaining home games this season. Passengers will be dropped off behind Center Field, and will run the same route in reverse after the game.

Oh Shuttles, The word trolley excited me. They should put a trolley line that goes there, since that’s going to be a future city walk.

Yeah an actual trolley would be a great nod to old Brooklyn dodgers (trolley dodgers!)

Wow…look at all that asphalt surrounding Dodger Stadium. That’s a horrible site. Look how much space is wasted for the automobile, and what could be done. Some nice condo buildings, a park, entertainment, etc…would make Chavez Ravine a neighorhood again. I know McCourt is proposing a parking garage and some entertainment components in a few years, but a lot more can be done.

I’m mad they threw in the word trolley, got me excited. We could have parking garages, retail, etc bunched up on one side, the other, the park. Bring on the Silver Line light rail

This is a welcome addition. I hope that they would extend it for the Madonna concert in November, and any non-baseball events for that matter. A streetcar/trolley would be awesome in the future. Perhaps the same line that will clang down Broadway in a few years?
