angelenic: downtown los angelesAfter a long weekend of testing and trial-and-error editing, our new look is nearly complete. We’ve retained some aspects of the previous scheme, but this layout will allow for featured content on the new right sidebar such as popular archived posts, better flickr integration and a new construction update area. We’ll have more information on that soon, as we get the various components ready.

We’ve got some testing and minor customization left to do, but the current design should carry us for the planned future.

Now back to our regularly scheduled programming. Thanks for reading!

Nice shot of the downtown skyline. This is one of my wife’s favorite vistas. I much prefer it to the more generic L.A. cityscape you used previously.

Couple of unsolicited suggestions:

1) It would be nice as the Christmas season approaches if you updated the image with some of downtown’s skyline lit up with holiday lights.
2) Check out the view from the First Street bridge coming into Little Tokyo.
3) You might want to develop a bull pen of downtown images to use as your banner image as the mood or season changes.

Congratulations on what I assume was some hard work.

and I can’t wait for a nice clear just past-sunset evening in December to take a shot of Downtown with the Christmas color crown on the US Bank Tower. I’ll totally head over to the 1st street bridge and check out that view…thx David from one visitor to another. :)

you know, i almost commented earlier on how annoying i think the sharethis icon is. i would float it off to the right, on the same line as the ‘# comments’ text below each post.

Jim, you’re right - I’d like it there too. We’re working on it.
