mode restaurant to open november 30

This blog has moved to Twitter! Check out my twitter feed for the latest restaurant, retail, and cultural news in the neighborhood.

Mode Restaurant, Downtown Los AngelesUPDATE: Mode is now closed until further notice. We’ll keep you posted. Owner Tony Jones (Royale on Wilshire) emailed us to let us know that, after many issues with the city’s permitting process, Mode Restaurant is set to open its doors at 11:00 a.m. this Friday.

A meet-and-greet event is open to the public Thursday night at 10:00 p.m. and will feature live entertainment, a DJ and a cash bar.

Best of luck to Mr. Jones and Mode Restaurant. Judging by recent search traffic over the last two months, it’s been eagerly awaited by the Downtown community. I personally can’t wait to try their late-night menu.

What’s going on in the retail space just south of “Mode?” You should check out the new sneaker shop which opened on Pico next to the Street Sound Record Shop.

I’m not sure what’s going in south of Mode. We’ll look into it and let you know as soon as we find anything out.

And I’m glad stuff is opening on Pico. That area needs all the help it can get!

According to Mode, the retail space next door is going to be a bakery, part of a chain.
