opening soon: seven restaurant & bar

This blog has moved to Twitter! Check out my twitter feed for the latest restaurant, retail, and cultural news in the neighborhood.

Seven Restaurant & Bar, Downtown Los Angeles, Quinby BuildingThe evolution of 7th Street into a bona fide Restaurant Row continues. The strangely unannounced Seven Restaurant & Bar proudly displays an “Opening Soon” banner in the ground-floor space of the Quinby Building (northeastern corner of 7th and Grand).

Big City Entertainment, LLC is behind the new venture. While the state of the interior is hidden behind newspapered windows, the alcohol permit is still listed as pending. A handsome wooden exterior is visible through the roll-down security gates, and we’re expecting a polished neighborhood hangout.

This space is a few steps away from the similarly named Seven Grand, which may get confusing if the moniker sticks.

Nice, the street is coming alive. 7-11, Wokano, 7 Bar, 7 Grand, all open or opening in the last 6 months, with so much more coming.

Is this where the coffee shop with the yellow awning used to be? I think it was Grand Central or something?

Yes! That place did have a yellow awning, although I’m not sure what it was.

Yes, that’s the same location. A few weeks ago I was walking past there and there was a sign on the window that said “permanently closed” or something to that effect, and the cafe tables on the patio area (on Grand) were dusty. I made a mental note of it, and now Seven Restaurant & Bar is going in.
