keeping an eye on san pedro apartments progress
Since our last construction check on the San Pedro Apartments in late April, Little Tokyo’s latest wood-frame housing complex has risen to half its planned 6-story height.
Helmed by developer Related Co., the 230-unit project is the first phase of the four-part Block 8 development, set to contain a two-way street (also taking shape), leafy pedestrian walkways and ample retail.
Renderings supplied by Thomas P. Cox Architects show a design common in the neighborhood — simple and modern with cautious use of color. Even still, when delivered next year San Pedro Apartments probably rival Related’s previous project Hikari for the area’s priciest rentals.

the renderings look good but I am just no convinced this is an area I would live in … yet.
Are they going to name the “new” street Azusa Street, which was once in that same location many years ago? Look across San Pedro Street, and you will see the stub of the old street, with a street sign.
DEAN: Agreed…maybe in a few years…or 10
Yea, there’s still aberrant hoboage a little south of here.
This is a request for permission to use the “Elevated View from Weller Court” photograph above in a presentation to show a customer the type of jobs we supply lumber for. May I use it? Thank you.
