BonChon Chicken, New York City’s popular Korean fried chicken (or “KFC”) eatery, is coming to Koreatown!

The karaoke-and-chicken lounge is currently building out its new location in the Royal Plaza on the northwest corner of 6th and Catalina.

BonChon offers its “tasteful and nutritiously-enriched” crispy confections in Hot Spicy and Soy Garlic flavors alongside a variety of non-chicken items, such as pickled radishes and soju. “At BonChon, it’s all about eating healthy — minimized fat, high in protein, and low in cholesterol.”

That’s quite the claim for a restaurant that double deep-fries its buttermilk-soaked chicken to achieve that extra crispiness. But apparently they have a winning recipe as the NY Times and Yelp critics extend their universal praise.

Hopefully West Coasters will have the same sentiment, as BonChon will be contending locally with Kyochon — another “KFC” chain with a devout fan-base — also located on 6th near Serrano.
