When a new lighting system was installed at LA City Hall earlier this year, there were promises of brilliant new color schemes to match certain major holidays and events.
Christmastime was supposed to see City Hall become especially festive, with a green hue to match Villaraigosa’s Green Initiative kickoff this past July. This week, however, the iconic structure has been glowing its standard, elegant white.
With one day left until Christmas, did someone forget to flip the switch before the long weekend?
Let’s hear your City Hall color scheme suggestions for events and holidays!

It’s probably the fault of the writers’ strike. There’s nobody around to script the holiday colors.
i’ve been thinking it would be super-cool if the US Bank [Library] Tower changed the colors of its “crown” every year for the UCLA-USC game. the winner of the game gets its school colors on the crown for the week after the game and for the week before the game the following year. since i don’t know who to talk to about that idea, maybe it could work for city hall.
