Loftexpert: While I couldn't reach anyone directly at Blowfish since the current location is now closed, outgoing message on their voicemail specifically stated they are moving to 1212 S Flower Street in Downtown LA.

Any clarification?

We do not have any deal with Kor. It's one of several places we're considering, true. We'll let you know when this is final.

Thanks for the link Rich.

I agree that we do have enough sushi options at this point but I walk around downtown and also see countless for lease signs and streets that are almost lifeless. I too would like to see more comfort food, different restaurants, etc.... but I am just saying that first and foremost we should all be clamoring for more life on the streets.

This will in turn bring in more residents, the streetcar, etc....... I now try to spend all my entertainment money in downtown whenever possible to help all these businesses out.

Is anybody counting the ratio of sushi joints we got downtown? Panini opens, and is packed on day one, because people like comfort food and a breakfast/lunch/dinner-type restaurant. Folks, I think downtown has reached sushi-saturation.

I don't mind more retail outlets opening even if they are sushi, coffee, etc.... cafes that we already have. I think at the very least it will make downtown more pedestrian friendly. You are right in that it would be nice to have a larger variety of shops to browse, but it definitely beats empty dark streets anyday.

Does anyone know what the status is regarding Tom Gilmore's plan to open two restaurants on spring and fourth or Barry Shy planning his 15 story tower on main? I also heard there will be a large restaurant opening on the patio of the stock exchange building. I live in the area and would love for there to be more life at night although things have gotten much better over time. I just wouldn't mind have the streets sprawling like Times Square or the Gaslamp quarters.

Nathan: There's no way BottleRock will be done by October. That's their (management's) official line though, "Two more months." Add in the necessary inspections and I honestly don't see it opening before year's end.

Rivera, on the other hand, may meet their build-out projection, but again... city inspections will probably add a couple months to that, meaning early 2009.

Inspections are tougher to pass when you're building out a brand-new space that never housed any restaurant before.

Nice! And Southpark continues to fill in...this district continues to get better and better. BTW, assuming no more city delays, BottleRock is planning completion by October and Rivera26 completion for November. Fingers crossed...
