Tiara Cafe, Fashion District, Downtown Los AngelesThe Fashion District’s beloved Tiara Cafe, which has established a faithful lunch crowd with its delicious “new American” cuisine, will open its doors for dinner starting Friday, January 11.

Dinner will be offered every Friday through Sunday, 5:30pm to 10:00pm. However, starting Valentine’s Day dinner will encompass five days a week —Wednesday through Sunday.

Downtowners should make it a point to support the cafe’s extended-hours endeavor. After all, there has been a recent debate on the viability of our nighttime dining scene.

The community value that these small neighborhood gems create is tremendous. Let’s not let them down.

I’m all for extended dining hours, but if you’re going to do something you have to do it right. This is the second time they are doing the dinner thing. Last time, I heard about them being open for dinner and i wanted to try it out, but when I finally made it out there, they were closed. Apparently not enough people showed up and they decided to cancel it. I don’t mean to single out the Tiara Cafe, because it’s happened to me with so many other downtown restaurants. There is really no consistency, so rather than risk going somewhere and having it be closed, I tend to stick with the places I can count on like Pete’s Cafe, Daily Grill, etc… I’m not sure who’s running these businesses but without consistency they’ll never build a solid dinner following. I think the market is there, but you have to be ready to lose money in the beginning just for the sake of establishing your restaurant as a viable dinner destination.

This is good news. We are sorely lacking in vegetarian options.

Noah, you’re right. I recently became a mostly-vegan, and though we have a few options for dining out, I’d love to see a restaurant like Vegan Plate in Studio City or any of a number of great vegan-friendly restaurants in the city. I’m working on a vegan-friendly restaurant list at the moment. Look for it soon!

I AM SORRY YOUR NEW I-PHONE MESSED UP YOUR CALANDER, AT&T REALLY IS NOT VERY GOOD! ALL THE SAME i AM THE CHEF AT TIARA CAFE AND WE OPENED THE DAY WE SAID WE WERE GOING TO OPEN. SPREADING GOSSIP IS A SHAME! YOU NEED TO CHECK YOUR SORCES BEFORE TRYING SHOES ON, BUT IF THE SHOE FITS WEAR IT! I HOPE IT DOESN’T INTERFERE WITH YOUR CHEWING OR DIGESTION.
