Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf at Wilshire Vermont Station, KoreatownGame Stop at Wilshire Vermont Station Project, Koreatown

Retail openings in Koreatown seem to move along much more quickly than they do in Downtown. Three storefronts in the Wilshire Vermont Station have sprung to life since we last checked back in late December.

A branch of Washington Mutual Bank opened before the new year and became complex’s third retail tenant after Nine West and T-Mobile.

Additionally, Game Stop sported its debut on Thursday and has already become a haven for gaming fans east of Hollywood.

Filling the other “showcase” space at the intersection of Wilshire and Vermont is Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf. The coffee shop will begin brewing early Wednesday morning and is Koreatown’s second freestanding location.

Approximately twelve other businesses and restaurants will be joining the scene in coming months, none of which are terribly unique or exciting.

Poppycock! I actually love Great Steak and Potato Company.

Wilshire and Vermont’s retail is nice. I don’t see anything really wrong with it. One of the few places that has something for everyone.

I like Great Steak and Potato Company too. Looks like they’re opening a location up in the Broadway Spring Center (333 Spring St.) in downtown. I hope it’ll be open on weekends, but I doubt it.

Well, I guess Juice It Up! doesn’t like downtown, since their location at 6th and Hope closed up suddenly a little while ago. Seems that K-Town is more to their liking.

Well, at least we don’t have to take the subway over there to get to Samurai Sam’s Teriyaki Grill, we have TWO of them here in Downtown. One on Spring Street and one in the City National (nee Arco) Plaza. Take that, K-Town. Oh yeah, and Little Tokyo also, if chain fast food Teriyaki is not to your liking.
