south park towers reach height milestones

South Park’s soon-to-be tallest has hit its first major milestone.
Last week, constructions crew framed the 26th-floor pool deck of the LA Live JW Marriott Hotel, meaning that wing of the 54-story tower has completely topped out.
According to a project rep, construction framing on the Ritz Carlton portion of the structure will now double, speeding up to two floors per week.
The official website already set up for the JW Marriott Hotel claims a spring 2010 arrival.
Two blocks away, Meruelo Maddux’s 717 Ninth tower is about two floors shy of its 35-story peak, which should be met in September.
Earlier this month, the developer secured an $84 million loan to keep construction on schedule after funds from project’s original loan was lost over credit market complications.
Work on the structure had slowed during the transition, but has since picked up pace and is still on schedule for completion next year.
717 Ninth will be Downtown’s tallest residential skyscraper when finished.

JW Marriott Hotel Lobby Rendering

I can attest to the recent pick-up in work at 717 Flower as it’s been noisier the last few weeks then back in June and July.
Now if the Medallion could move faster.
It’s only six stories. LOL
When I saw the blue panels going up on the side of the building, I right away thought of “the Jetsons” and early 1960s style. And I can see they have carried that look right through to the interior design. Very cool.
Very cool renderings!
yeah your right…these renderings are looking more and more real everyday.
When will the ESPN building get their billboards?
^
I would think soon, considering that it is supposed to open in only months.
Heading south on the 110 Freeway you can see the way the building’s (JW Marriott section) wavey, glass panels sort of shimmer. The effect is really interesting and I can only imagine how the real thing (even with top-notch renderings) will play with the light. Nice to see something other than flat-sided boxes going up, especially in such a noticeable location.
It is truly amazing to watch these gigantic structures transforming on a weekly basis. I remember when 717 Ninth was just a 6 story parking structure and look at it now! They grow up so fast. *sniff*
go L.A.!!!!!!!!!!!
