kyoto grand hotel making full transition

Final trademarks of the old New Otani Hotel & Gardens in Little Tokyo were being scraped away this weekend.
The landmark 434-room hotel began operating as the Kyoto Grand Hotel & Gardens late last year in an attempt by the new owners, Beverly Hills-based 3D Investments, to reposition the property and create a more high-end experience.
New insignia for the Kyoto Grand Hotel should soon appear atop the 21-story tower to complete the rebranding process, which will retain the Japanese character of the emblematic Little Tokyo hotel.
Over the last 20 months, approximately $8 million in improvements have been made to the property which also includes Weller Court, a three-level retail promenade that is home to a number of Japanese and Korean businesses.
It’s too bad the improvements saw the replacement of one tired 1980s color scheme with… the same bland 1980s color scheme — neither of which say “luxury” to me.

$8 million?? Looks exactly the same to me…
I’ll miss the hotel’s original logotype or insignia. I’ve always thought it was done with a very graceful style of calligraphy.
