wurstküche aiming for early october opening

This blog has moved to Twitter! Check out my twitter feed for the latest restaurant, retail, and cultural news in the neighborhood.

As construction crews make their last sprint toward completion of Wurstküche, the Arts District’s new 3,300-square-foot sausage grill and bar, proprietors Joseph Pitruzzelli and Tyler Wilson are aiming for a late September to early October opening.

A second phase that includes the bar and sit-down eating area should open within the following month.

Titling themselves as “A Purveyor of Exotic Grilled Sausages,” we had to verify we got the details accurate in our last report:  On the menu will be such sausages as seafood, seitan, alligator & apricot, rattlesnake and pheasant & cranberry.  Belgian fries and beers as well as gourmet mustard and homemade mayo should help round out your (seriously unhealthy) meal.

Wurstküche’s eats will be affordably priced at $5.75 to $6.50 per sausage sandwich.

Ach. I’m just bummed it won’t be open in time for Detour. What would be in phase one if phase two includes a sit-down eating area and the bar? There’s nothing else other than the kitchen that I could think of.

Matthew: Phase 1 includes the grill, a counter and the to-go area. Should’ve been more precise on that.

So a place named ‘Wurstküche’ has everything on the menu except German food and beer? Only in LA I guess. :)

Manny, German is an official language in Belgium in case you didn’t know.

The owners of Wurstküche are currently using that corner space as offices, but will eventually be part of the restaurant.
