The exciting scavenger hunt adventure is back for round two! If you missed the inaugural CityRace/LA contest for Downtown last year, this is your chance to get in on the action!
From the heart of Downtown’s historic core to the “village” of Little Tokyo, this challenging hunt will take you through some of the city’s most historic neighborhoods. You’ll discover some of the oldest - and newest - sites in downtown L.A. as you solve cryptic clues and brainteasing puzzles in this iconic urban adventure through L.A.’s past, present and future!
Teams of 2 to 4 players compete on foot in a challenging 3-hour hunt for a shot at the grand prize, and scores of bragging rights. Reservations are now being taken for Saturday, March 15 and March 22, 2008.
Thinking about entering?
Let me warn you, the competition is fierce.
Rich and I will there early and well-rested for the March 22 race, new smartphones in hand.
Last year, we (The Angelenos) came in a very close 2nd place (out of approximately 18 teams) to the Downtown Dwellers, a team of four hotshots equipped with iPhones and books worth of historic knowledge. To see them flaunt their medals, you would think they won the Olympic Gold.
It’s not about who wins, as long as we’re all having fun, right?
Ha, we invite all of you to give us a run for our money!
CityRace/LA - Upside-Downtown

Saturday, March 22 @ 10:00 am
Schedule & Registration Form
Entry Fee: $35 per person (well worth it!)
-congratulations to the winners of cityrace/la (September 2007)

Very cool! Thanks for posting this, I had no idea it existed. I’ve always fantasized about being on The Amazing Race. May the best team win!
Foodeater, if you like the Amazing Race this is for you!
CityRace is actually modeled on that show, and the people who organize it are very clever and thoughtful. It’s SO MUCH fun!
There’s also a county-wide version they do each year called Race/LA that is a day long event:

I’ve never done it, but plan to this year.
Stephen… I’m totally down! If there’s still room left, and if my friend can commit to it, we’re going to sign up for the race on the 15th. If not, than you just might have some friendly competition from us on the 22nd ;)
I also did this last year and had a great time, until my team (Runners On Empty) was knocked down from 2nd to 3rd. Fix!
Anyway, there’s another similar race going on March 8, 2008. It starts in Hollywood but will probably roll through Downtown. You can get info at http://www.greaturbanrace.com. By chance, I also did the SF version of this other race while visiting a friend and loved it. The two races are a little different but both lots of fun. You’ll love them both.
