An “eye opening journey through the inner workings of the human body,” the wildly successful Body Worlds 3 exhibition starts Friday, March 14 at the California Science Center in Exposition Park, just south of Downtown Los Angeles.
Body Worlds became well known after its 1995 debut in Tokyo, which surprised the world with the plastination tissue-preservation technique applied to willing human donors. Individual organ systems and the roles they play in the operation of the human body are candidly exposed for the whole world to see.
Some of you may not be able to, um… stomach the exhibit.
Ticket prices for the event are $18.95 for adults, and $12.95 for children and youth under 18. Tickets for students and seniors are $16.95.
DASH Downtown’s F Line runs on a weekday and weekend schedule, with service from the Financial District to Exposition Park.

I’d highly recommend this exhibit to my neighbors. My wife and I took in the original BodyWorlds exhibit a few years ago. Absoluting fascinating. It is one of those experiences that alters the way you think. Seeing is truly illuminating.
As an aside, I’d point out the parking structure at the Science Center is very thoughtfully designed. Essentially, it is another space used as a learning venue. It is surrounded by a series of nature walking paths. I always thought it would be interesting to visit the space on a rainy day. I also love how the parking structure goes underground. It effectively masks the bulk of the structure and allows the landscape to focus on the more iconic buildings like the Coliseum and the Science Center.
And for those who haven’t visited the Science Center, admission is free to the facility (but not this show). The building is conversion of a historic structure and very well-done. From the third floor, there is an excellent view of downtown with the Rose Garden below.

I’ve heard nothing but Great Things. It was hard to find the information. Can I just come anyday and purchase tickets at the door at the time I want to see the exhibit? How about weekdays?

You should buy the tickets prior online. I went last weekend and it is getting crowded due to the exhibition ending soon.
