Convention Center Hotel at LA Live Under Construction, Downtown Los AngelesNear the end of February, we took a look at LA Live’s 54-story Convention Center Hotel as the metal skeleton made its way out of the ground.

Shortly thereafter, a spokesmen for Gensler (the project’s architect) explained that construction is progressing over one floor per week, indicating all 54 stories will be in place by the end of this year.

He wasn’t kidding.

Just over four weeks later, the structure has already risen to its 7th floor, becoming a substantial presence on Olympic Boulevard and giving us a clear picture of how the tower will integrate into the larger LA Live development.

By fall when the majority of restaurants and other venues are expected to open in the Club Nokia building, the tower will already be making an impact on the Downtown skyline, being an estimated 40 levels high by that time.

Good Job. Get that hotel up and running , the quicker the better.

We also need to get our Downtown Transportation System up and running better. But I am sure that AEG and whoever else will partner with the surrounding property owners to use their money to move their tenants around. Like MAcguire Partners. Someone should do a story on their fleet of little blue busses. Could it be Angelenic?

If anyone can get the story it is you guys. That is unless the Downtown News is reading this blog they might run with it. Guzman ran with my story on JAck’s MArket being open again . I am flattered. Downtown news has been coming to my blog a lot lately.

AEG has expressed interest in sponsoring a DASH service, like the Art Walk shuttle, but I have not heard much about that lately.

Next time you guys might want to consider getting a shot of this project from the on and off ramps on the 110 at 8th & 9th Street. Excellent perspective of the entire project.

When is this gonna be done? Beginning of 2010 or end of 2010? And what about the convention center expansion onto the parking garage at LA Live?
