Another one of TV’s most-watched events is following the bright lights to Downtown Los Angeles.

Fox’s hit reality series American Idol recently announced that Nokia Theatre at LA Live will be hosting the two-evening grand finale event scheduled for May 20-21. The network is moving the conclusion episodes from Hollywood’s Kodak Theatre after six seasons.

Last year, over 30 million viewers tuned in to watch Jordin Sparks and Blake Lewis battle it out during a two-hour crowning celebration staged with some of the biggest names in music, raking in nearly double the viewership of the 2008 Grammy Awards which relocated to LA Live’s venues in February.

AEG, the owner of Nokia Theatre, has also has inked a 10-year deal with the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences to bring the Annual Primetime Emmy Awards to Downtown starting with this year’s telecast on Sept. 21.

In related news, ESPN’s 16th Annual ESPY Awards will be held at Nokia Theatre on Sunday, July 20. Justin Timberlake is set to host the event which is also relocating from six years at the Kodak Theatre.
