Biltmore Hotel overlooking Pershing Square, Downtown Los AngelesMarc Modrow, owner of the former furnishings and clothing gallery marcjoseph on Beverly Boulevard in Hollywood, is bringing his eclectic showroom shopping display to Downtown this summer with Fashion Showcase.

The trade show-style fair centered around a mix of contemporary and vintage clothing will be hosted on a quarterly basis in one of the historic Biltmore Hotel’s grand ballrooms.

“It is a comprehensive multi-dealer marketplace for clothing, which allows all those designers and showrooms in the mart buildings to get out and sell direct to the public, and expose themselves to the press, stylists, costumers, and collectors,” Modrow says while pointing out nothing like this has ever been organized locally.

He continues, “Both emerging designers selling new clothing and accessories are welcomed, along with a few carefully chosen vintage dealers.”

While the showcase will launch as a quarterly event, Modrow hopes to expand it monthly and tie into the customer base of Phillip Dane’s new South Park Flea Market, which is still kicking to find its footing.

Initially the event will operate with a simple exhibition layout, but Modrow vows that other elements will be added once it becomes more popular among Downtown’s maturing fashion scene.

“The Biltmore has lots of room to expand, and lots of possibilities for things like runway shows, charity fundraisers, and retrospectives of legendary fashion designers. There are two other vintage clothing shows in Southern California, but Fashion Showcase will bring together both classic and new designs,” promises the event organizer.

In the world of fashion as Modrow is trying to prove, vintage doesn’t have to mean outdated and current isn’t necessarily better. Planned music, art and live entertainment may appeal to those less concerned with the timeliness of style.

Marc,
Hello you bought my lovey dress on ebay yesterday. I am interested in the Fashion Showcase. How does this work and can you email me more info. I have red carpet vintage dresses just a few good ones. :) IF possible if you showcase the dress you bought from me may I get some credit to promote my website.
