grab a lei: maui wowi hawaiian arrives thursday
This week South Park gets a fun new coffee shop, sure to become a popular hangout for FIDM students and weekend park-goers alike.
Owner Bonnie Gerasimov confirms Maui Wowi Hawaiian will officially open Thursday, October 2 at Hope and Olympic, following a limited preview event on Wednesday evening.
The 1,500 square-foot themed space inside Renaissance Tower Apartments will sport island-inspired furniture and surfing decor. Maui Wowi is known for serving up Hawaiian coffees, all-natural fruit smoothies and authentic Hawaiian snacks.
Several other locations of the national chain dot Southern California, but this a first for Downtown. Previously announced hours are Monday through Friday 6:00am to 8:00pm, Saturday 7:00am to 7:00pm, and Sunday 11:00am to 7:00pm.

It’ll be nice to have someplace other than Starbucks in South Park. The Coffee Bean at Ralphs was a bit of a disappointment, with no real seating. I’m not for over-loitering, but it’s nice to sit down and enjoy your drink before it gets cold on the way home.
The store is beautiful, well lit and the people are super friendly and accomodating. Not to mention the great coffee. Good luck to Maui Wowi Downtown!!!
You should try their lattes!! They make them the RIGHT way with the right taste and texture… not like any of the other chains.
PLUS, (i think this is a bonus) they are a small business owner (franchisee) so we get the personal service AS WELL as we get to help out the “li’l guy.”
At the very least, you have to try any of their lattes… my favorite is the basic mocha delight…
