seven restaurant gets full liquor license, adds hours
This blog has moved to Twitter! Check out my twitter feed for the latest restaurant, retail, and cultural news in the neighborhood.
Score one for 7th Street nightlife: Opening earlier this year with a beer and wine license only, Seven Restaurant & Bar has finally secured its full liquor license, adding 16 martinis and cocktails with fresh ingredients to the menu.
A lunch and dinner menu is available, though prices trend much higher than average.
While those passing by late on Friday and Saturday nights have been greeted with a shuttered venue – in direct contrast to Seven Grand whiskey bar several doors down – new hours of operation have gone into effect, according to General Manager April Paton.
Seven is now open until 2:00am Wednesday through Saturday, and 1:00am Monday and Tuesday; dinner served until 10:00pm, with a bar food menu available until midnight.
Meanwhile, progress has been slow but steady in the drive to create a nightlife destination out of 7th Street. Several new restaurants are set to debut within the next six months, including Bottega Louie, California Roll & Sushi, and Maison Metro, a new Thai concept from the owners of Alhambra’s Green Papaya.

I’ve heard so many mixed things about Seven. Is it any good? Worth the prices?
Wow, didn’t see that one coming. I think the food is good, but not worth the price. I’ve heard mixed things too. I wasn’t sure if they were getting many customers. Anyone been in there recently?
this place needs better signage. The signage looks bad for a place that sounds very upscale and classy.
I’ve been here several times, it is pricey but I think the food here is very good. I have to slightly disagree with LoftLA, I think it is worth the price, but just barely.
Went once. Nice space. Food acceptable. Way pricey. Average service. Many better options. Once was enough.
Skip it. The owner is rude. The signage is tacky. The food is average and overpriced. Give your money to the restaurants/bars that do it right - Colori Kitchen, Wood Spoon, Seven Grand, The Nickel, Pete’s, Banquette, Blossom.
Let this turkey fail and then hopefully it will be replaced with something acceptable.
It’s a shame. I share #5 and #6’s comments. I was hoping Seven had changed because I hadn’t been there since soon after they opened. I experienced the same indifference from the owner and marginal service. For what you pay they should do better, but I’m afraid they just don’t get it.
Never had an interest in going there after I heard it was more pricey trendy nonsense, but man, that signage! What is it with Downtown and bad or absent signage? Aren’t there tons of graphic designers and artists in these parts? What gives?
OVERPRICED, AND OVERRATED!
I’ve been there once and wasn’t impressed enough to go back. The owner told me he’s a first time restaurant owner so that may explain the lack of service. That picture of the dining room must be old because it’s lacking most of the decor.
If they lowered their prices, I’d return.
