sandella’s flatbread cafe coming to the mandel lofts

This blog has moved to Twitter! Check out my twitter feed for the latest restaurant, retail, and cultural news in the neighborhood.

Joining the neighborhood restaurant fray is Sandella’s Flatbread Cafe, which is beginning build-out in the Mandel Lofts at 7th and Olive.

With 125 locations now open — mainly in the South and on the East Coast — and 350 more planned, if you haven’t heard the name yet, you probably will soon. It could be the beginning of a “flat food revolution” in Downtown:  Pizzas, quesadillas, wraps, paninis and even rice bowls are made with Sandella’s signature toasted and grilled flatbreads.

Okay, maybe not a revolution, but another lunch and dinner option can’t hurt.

Don’t they have this up in Hollywood, next to Fresh and Easy?

I haven’t tried it. Anyone know about it?

Yes, there is a location in Hollywood (that I have yet to try).

Address correction: West 7th. East would put you at San Julian.

Thanks, #3. Uhh… I could’ve sworn I had that right before….

The sign looks like it it replaces Maizon (the Thai restaurant)? I hope the Thai restaurant is still opening…

Rich can you confirm whether the Thai restaurant is still opening? I have eaten at the Alhambra location and the food is good for the price.

Brigham and #6: The alcohol permit application signage is still up for Maison Metro. I’ll look into it, but remember that the Mandel Lofts has a number of retail spaces.

Maison Metro is definitely still happening.

From the owner today:

“We’re just in the process of obtaining our final permits. We hope to start construction in mid October with about a three month build-out.”
