catching up on south park’s changing landscape
With Evo and 717 Olympic being written out of the headlines, all eyes are turning to South Park’s remaining construction projects in anticipation what’s in store for the neighborhood.
Even though there hasn’t been a ground breaking since June 1, 2007, the landscape here has changed drastically in that time.
From the vertical growth we continue to see day by day, it’s hard to look back at the dead zones that once defined these blocks — or even a construction photograph from six months ago.
But now that these structures are reaching advanced stages across the board — Concerto, 717 Ninth, LA Live phase II, Ritz Carlton Hotel Tower — Downtowners should already have a clear picture of what the South Park of tomorrow will look like.

Love it! Hopefully Fig Central and Fig South will break ground…
Don’t count on that, Brigham. But during the next Real Estate Cycle, don’t be surprised to see 5-10 times as many proposals as there are now.
