Yes, it’s themey, but that’s exactly why Downtowners will love it.
One block to the north sits Coffee Bean, one block to the south is America’s most recognizable coffee chain, Starbucks. As much as we love the familiar, variety is the spice of life — and in South Park, life just got a little more interesting.
As promised, Maui Wowi Hawaiian opened today at Hope and Olympic, pulling together bright colors, bamboo paneling, surf boards, tiki cups and palapa-style patio furniture to create a little island fun on a block devoid of much else.
This morning, a hand full of residents were already testing out the menu: Coffees, yogurt smoothies and combinations thereof (frozen espresso, cappuccino smoothies) with a tropical twist. Some drinks even come garnished with a martini umbrella.
With FIDM’s fall semester just around the corner, business here should be a breeze. And with free WiFi available, grab your, um, laptops and hit the surf.

Just visited today. The space is actually a lot roomier than you’d expect with generous sized seats and tables. Love how they have outdoor seating too. The espresso drinks are a bit on the sweet side but you can ask them to cut back on the syrup. Great addition to the neighborhood and I hope they do very well. The desserts looked to die for.
