old is the new new: 10-cent french dips at philippe’s monday (reminder)
This blog has moved to Twitter! Check out my twitter feed for the latest restaurant, retail, and cultural news in the neighborhood.
Because a restaurant reaching the 100-year mark is a rare occurrence — especially in a city that’s reinventing itself every few years — we couldn’t pass up reminding our readers that Monday, October 6 Philippe the Original celebrates its centennial in Downtown from 4:00-8:00pm only.
10-cent French dip sandwiches and 5-cent coffee will be available during that time.
And if the restaurant is too crowded, grab your sandwich to go and enjoy your meal across the street at the recently completed pocket park in the large median at Main and Alameda or the always-pleasant La Placita Olvera that still has that Old Los Angeles feeling.
