First, I'm very excited to have the promise of competent boarding just down the block. I currently spend $300/trip to fly our two pooches with us, not to mention the extra expense of using pet friendly airlines and hotels. But mostly, we avoid weekend getaways for lack of dog care. Second, Pussy & Pooch's prices are totally reasonable and if they doubled them, please Janene, don't get any ideas, the convenience factor would still justify it in my book -- I hate to leave my downtown bubble for errands and necessities.

I adopted my cat from the Bark Avenue Foundation, which is their shelter/nonprofit branch. During my visits to the facility, I was always impressed with how much the staff care for the animals there. I'm excited that they're opening a downtown location!

If I am ever unable to find a friend to cat-sit, I would feel completely comfortable boarding my cat at Bark Avenue.

Congratulations!

We are thrilled to have a complimentary...and friendly new neighbor that has both a great reputation and experience within the pet industry!

Pussy & Pooch is also excited to be a regular monthly host to Bark Avenue Foundation's "Paws on the Patio" pet adoption event - the 3rd Saturday of every month on our 400 sq ft outdoor patio....

AND, we are the 1st to bring Vet services downtown... this Sat Apr 26 & Sat May 10 Pussy & Pooch is bringing in 911 Vets Home Pet Medical for routine exams and services for cats and dogs including nail trims, vaccinations, microchiping, teeth cleaning, and spleen tumor screening for large breed dogs...all at discounted prices.

Noah - thanks for your comment! And for what it's worth to everyone 'watching' out there...don't let our 'fancy' presentation and store design intimidate you into thinking our products are priced too high or unfairly...check us out...you will be surprised. We are committed to becoming your neighborhood shopping destination...we carry many brands of food and everday supplies that are priced at (not above) MSRP - just like PETCO.

Scott - thank you for acknowledging the support dowtowners need to give local businesses to make them a 'rousing success'. We encourage everyone to come in and give us feedback on how we can better serve the needs of downtown pet owners...

Stephen (and Jim)- that's excellent news! I don't currently know who I would use to board my dog, but it sounds like Bark Avenue will be in the running for sure.

All of the dog care/pet stores seem to complement each other, as many services don't overlap. I can use one for pet supplies and toys, one for grooming, and one for boarding. I hope they are all successful too.

Now if we could just get a vet downtown, or at least associated with one of the local stores- like Petco does it's "vaccination clinics" would be a start...

Huzzah! Finally those garage-fronting slots are being filled. Good deal. Unfortunately, I do not have a pet, so I cannot shop at all these pet related enterprises. I hope those with pets will take advantage of their wares and make them a rousing success.

Something else is now required to fill the rest of those spaces along Main.

The new restaurant (former Mai Tacos) across the street should be opening soon as well.

Janene from Pussy & Pooch is a big fan of Bark Ave. She says they are very responsible, trustworthy and involved in adoptions. I think she looks at Bark Ave. as a compliment to their business.

Also, I wouldn't describe Pussy & Pooch's prices as high-end necessarily. Obviously if you are in the market for some designer dog bowl encrusted with jewels, it's going to be expensive, but their food, treats, poop bags and other necessities are priced very fairly.
