beverly hills gallery departs westside for sb lofts

This blog has moved to Twitter! Check out my twitter feed for the latest restaurant, retail, and cultural news in the neighborhood.

Rouge GalerieThe Historic Core’s SB Lofts at 6th and Main continues its retail frenzy this month with yet another new tenant.

Rouge Galerie, an art gallery with close ties to renowned French contemporary artist Sylvain Copon, is in the process of relocating its exhibit space from Little Santa Monica Boulevard in Beverly Hills near the Peninsula Hotel.

This week, pieces of art have begun to appear on the walls of the new space in anticipation of a June opening. Large oil on canvas paintings depicting French landscapes and abstracts dominated by floral imagery, small sculptures and hand-crafted ceramics are among Copon’s variety of works.

Yes, expect Beverly Hills-caliber prices.

Thanks to Jim Winstead of trainedmonkey for the tip and contributions!

Decorator ‘art’ for the rich. Any resemblance to real art; dead zero.

How is Shy Barry getting all these new retail tenants?? Some sort of incentives???

i think it helps that the sb lofts spaces are small, and pretty much built out already. the construction on rouge galerie looked like it took less than a week (at least to get to where they are now). the ink/toner place didn’t have to do any build-out, just put in some furniture. the clothing stores had similarly minimal build-outs.

putting restaurants into any of these spaces would be whole different ball of wax, i think.

^^^ hahahahah, I think its cool that they opened an ex Westside gallery in Downtown, that in itself is really saying something impactful that ppls perceptions of Downtown are definitely changing. Also If the gallery participates in the ART WALK which is already lively and vibrant, that this could draw more Westsiders Downtown and you know that means more $$$$.

Hi, Bonjour
YES ! I’m moving to the neighborhood…Me and my “famous poppies” I will make “dream’s” in the corner of 6 Th . To be comprehensible to all, I’m an artist and Business man who works hard for the district. I believe to be part of the self-motivated, energetic artists. Don’t be afraid to visit me for idea or comment … Beverly Hills is the past and the new location is the place! For information my painting is bright, Happy, Good, and in the museum… I paint for over 40 years I’m successful since I focus on my artwork, as well as work hard for it! My Original and starting price is $60.00 (oil on canvas) So the price is not too much “Beverly Hills “value… (IF YOU THINK IS TOO MUCH… MAYBE IS TIME TO SHOOP AT IKEA) …lol
Maybe some other artists are envious or jealous? Not happy? But, why you don’t start to look at you “Artwork” first. Perhaps you have nothing to say? If this is you please stay in your studio” talking bad” about the real one! Be angry about the world… this not my life, and/or my cup of tea… I drink Wine!
In the mean time the Happy one, are invited to stop to see me, and “say hello” don’t be afraid I don’t bite. (yet) I love to meet people.
For information, I treat people the same way I like to be treated! Be cautious I have a lot of energy, and this can be contagious…
I like to Thanks’ Angelenic , Jim Winstead of trainedmonkey,(for the tip) and all the new peoples I already meet this week…. From the restaurant across the street, to the nice couple from the SB Loft at 10 floors for the Soda. This week I was in my “uniform “of the construction man… Yes I fixed the place by me self and proud to do it right! Sorry!!! I love my new neighborhood! We are “hip” and we work together to make this corner taking a place in the city!
Rouge galerie Opening in May.
Amicalement ,Sincerely
Sylvain Copon
