echo park’s ball-nogues studio coming to old bank

Not even 24 hours after our report that artist Miguel Osuna is departing 4th and Spring for a new studio in the Toy District do we find out who’s next in line to keep the space from laying vacant.
Ball-Nogues Studio, a spacial design boutique whose work has been featured in major publications from Dwell to the New York Times, will be making the leap over from Echo Park.
Recent projects in their portfolio include the massive Copper Droopscape seen by revelers at the 2008 Coachella Valley Music Festival, as well as the Unseen Current, an abstract “billow of fog” crafted of 3,000 hanging strings over 10 miles in length dangling from the walls of Extension gallery for architecture in Chicago. Principals Benjamin Ball and Gaston Nogues also won an award in last year’s MoMA/P.S.1 Young Architects Program for their kaleidoscopic installation of Liquid Sky.
Ball tells angelenic plans are moving quickly to get set up in their new gallery, with opening anticipated by late November or December 1. Expect Ball-Nogues Studio to be quite a dramatic addition to December’s Art Walk experience.
