takami talks turkey – sushi, that is

This blog has moved to Twitter! Check out my twitter feed for the latest restaurant, retail, and cultural news in the neighborhood.

Takami Sushi & Robata Restaurant, the Financial District venue with a killer view, is offering a new take on fusion cuisine fit for the holiday season.

But it’s not the trendy Asian/Latin combination we’ve come to know in Los Angeles. No, this time it’s a full Thanksgiving dinner in a sushi roll.

The $20 roll contains roasted turkey wrapped in soy paper, dill- and chive-seasoned rice, avocado and asparagus, drizzled in gravy.

Hey, why stop there?  Cranberry sauce and mashed potatoes are served alongside pumpkin soup in a shot glass.

The turkey sushi roll is available starting November 13th through Thanksgiving.  Whether anyone will want to buy this thing is another story altogether.

What do you think? Is everything better in roll form?

I’m scared. If you give it a jolt of electricity will it walk off the table and get chased by villagers with pitchforks? J/K!

Damn! That was my idea! American Rolls!

Sushi roll form factor but with American style foods…okay, somebody take this and start their own fast food empire, I don’t have the energy.

Hmm- it’s “interesting” and certainly creative… but I’m not a huge roll fan, more into sushi/sashimi, so I think my $20 would be better spent on some Toro. But then again… I’d probably order it once.

oh I don’t like sushi at all and I think the price point is a bit much but if someplace served more non-fish sushi in soy wraps I’d be more into it.

At least the plating looks good. =)
