‘open house 2008′ pushes downtown exploration
No, this isn’t another housing tour… well, not entirely. The first weekend in June — Friday, June 6 through Sunday, June 8 — many Downtown businesses, museums, bars, restaurants, art galleries, hotels, new loft projects and other venues will be dressed to impress for the first annual Open House 2008.
The three-day event, an evolution of the Downtown Living Weekend, has been organized by the Downtown Center Business Improvement District as a self-guided “exploration tour” aimed at new “Downtownizens” (cleverly coined by Eater LA editor Lesley Balla) and other Angelenos, maybe 9-to-5ers, wanting to find discover the variety of living, playing and dining options that continue to crop up each month.
Connie Hwang, Economic Development Associate with the DCBID, explains that all business participants will be responsible for their own programming, and any food, alcohol, shopping and entry tickets will be of your own expense!
But hey, registration for the Open House is free, and so are all the collateral packets to be passed out at the showcase booths set up around 7th+Fig Plaza.
For many of you savvy residents, this one’s not for you; but if you think South Park refers to a scary little town in Colorado, seize the opportunity!

Oh, I beg to differ - saavy downtowners be aware! The weekend is a great opportunity to peek into your neighbor’s building, scope out that next lease agreement, and look at all the great bathrooms!
I’ll be walking around (probably a little waddle by then) looking for a competitor to PE Lofts (Haven’t been able to find anything that compares yet…)
