Newly hung “Leased” signs on vacant storefronts are always a call to duty here.

Derrick Moore, ruler of all things retail Downtown, tells angelenic about two new businesses on their way to the neighborhood.

On the southwest corner of 8th and Hill (near Golden Gopher and Colori Kitchen), a new nightclub and lounge will be moving into the 7,000 square-foot commercial space which formerly housed a bank.

Several block away in the old Pacific Mutual Life Building at 6th and Olive, a new yet-to-be-named Italian Steakhouse has inked a deal to occupy 9,400 square-feet across from Neihule.

Completely unrelated, but on the same block and worthy of a mention, Showbiz Ribs is prepping for their grand opening at 520 W. 6th Street. A finished interior and posted staffing signs indicate the day of meat binging is near, but attempts to contact the owners have been unreturned. (A rep on site today says the restaurant will open in one to two weeks.)

Expect barbecued everything — pulled pork, tri tip, sausage links, burgers, chicken, shrimp — and lots of tackiness.
