arts district’s urth caffe extends hours

Following a warm welcome from Arts District residents, Urth Caffe at the Barker Block has extended operating hours from 7:00am to 10:00pm, seven days a week.

Enjoy free WiFi on the sizable outdoor patio where local gossip can be overheard, from new retail spots to neighborhood gripes.

Hell, this blogger even overheard one high-profile restaurateur on the phone with Verizon tech support.  That’s hot.

For those more grounded in reality, Urth’s honey vanilla latte pairs well with a slice of house-made lemon cake.  Call ahead to confirm hours.

Thanks to readers Jerry Won with Barker Block and Peter Pappas for the tip.

Have you been to the new Urth Caffe? Let us know your experience!

Finally some good news. :)

(Although the opportunity created by Macy’s closure at 7th & Fig was also good news.)

I heart Urth Caffe. Just wish I could afford to live closer and I’d be there every day. Mmmmmm…..

Since when do you get charged extra for whipped cream on your nothing-to-write home about hot chocolate or jam for your very average toast? The prices at Urth are already too high and when these extra charges are added the result is disbelief coupled with an almost primitive desire to boycott the establishment that tries to espouse itself a we “save the world’ and you literally “pay for it” establishment.

Urth Caffe delivers up the best lattes in the city, hands down. And the downtown location is especially nice, what with the bakery on-site and new later hours and all.

My wife and I go there every week-end now – coffee is fantastic. We still hit up Metropol, but the lack of outdoor seating hurts them.

I live in Boyle Heights (and work downtown) but have loved the Urth Caffe on Melrose since it opened. I am so happy to have one close by….and with FAR fewer pretentious folks! Yes, it is a little pricey, but it’s great food and terrific coffee! Thanks, URTH, for remembering us folks on the eastside!
