wow, the services are starting to finally come Downtown, hopefully this will usher in the big advent (inspite of the economy) of Dry cleaners, cafes, newsstands, delis, stores, dentists, barbers/salons, etc. for the growing community. They should try to open a few more cleaners on Spring and Main also.
there are already cleaners at 5th and spring, in the alexandria, and 6th and spring, in the hayward. but like many of the older businesses around, they aren’t necessarily doing a great job of advertising to all the new residents downtown.
there is rumored to be one planned for the retail spaces in the old bank district parking garage, whenever those spaces finally get built out.
there’s no shortage of salons, of course. dentists, either.
Well…compared to the other cleaners in the historic core, monte carlo is offering housekeeping services which I don’t think we have anybody tailored to that yet (outside of Molly Maid which is for all of LA county). Correct me if I’m wrong. So, that is a new service Monte Carlo is providing to the community. And that’s what I’m most excited for!
Too bad their site isn’t up. I’m excited for their $1.25 fluff n fold internet special. They should let us know when its available.
If you value your clothes, avoid that place. I’ve had jeans shrunk and clothes ruined there.
The cleaners b/w 6th and 7th is great.
We only used a dry cleaner once a month or so but I am surprised there are not more ‘green cleaners’ in LA.
There is a big push back in Chicago (where we moved from) away from traditional dry cleaning and there are many options available for those trying to better then environment a little and keep their clothes lasting longer at the same time.
The only one I’ve found ‘close’ is over near Westwood (I think, still getting me bearings)
Thanks for all the comments it really helps us better understand the dry cleaning, laundry, and housekeeping needs of the downtown community. Our website will be up and running by the end of February and by this summer we plan to offer wet cleaning.
The laundry service is actually a very good deal considering its in Downtown La. It was only a matter of time before these businesses began coming to
You can learn about the difference between dry and wet or “green” cleaning and find a list of green cleaners in LA by visiting this website:

I’ve used a wet/green cleaner for years for all my clothes, even my fanciest garments and I’m very happy with the results.
I do wish a wet cleaner would come downtown, so I’m excited to hear the Monte Carlo would do this by summer.
I appreciate all the comments and suggestions. Candice thank you for the link.

One more note that I forgot about!!
I had a vintage set of Rattan that I wanted to sell on Craigslist … two sets of the spring cushions needed to be cleaned … not only the fabric, but the cushion springs inside (YES, my cat sprayed those too at one point … then I put them in the attic cuz I couldn’t deal with it!!). But I couldn’t sell the set they way they were!
It cost a little bit of money to do, and when I got them back they looked BRAND NEW!! I mad me a little upset …once I saw them cleaned, I didn’t want to sell the set anymore!!!! But, I did, and I got the asking price!
