the future is twitter
This blog has moved to Twitter! Check out my twitter feed for the latest restaurant, retail, and cultural news in the neighborhood.
Though this blog has been silent due to personal commitments, the conversation continues on a more informal level on Angelenic’s Twitter feed. Everything from new restaurants and bars to events and neighborhood happenings is covered in 140-character snippets!
Also, check out the Downtown Center Business Improvement District’s Twitter feed, an up-to-date resource for bargains, tours and new businesses in Downtown.

It’ll be a sad day when the attention span of the average person can only handle conversation snippets at 140 characters.
Every medium was going to kill our ability to interact with other humans. Novels, radio, TV, the Internet, blogging, Twitter…
Hey Rich, I’ve been on the twitter feed since you first announced it, but it might help some people here if you give a primer on how to sign up and participate. The twitter site is not terribly instructive.
I also suggest that you bring your Twitter feed right onto the Angelenic website, and people willl immediately see on your home page what you have been posting. You have a great presence for downtownLA and referrals will continually land on your web page. Note how on Friday, you even made the LA Times on things to do in Downtown.
I hate twitter. I hope Angelenic comes back. I’ve been wondering why it wasn’t updated.
It’s one of my favorite downtown blogs. How much info can you possibly bring us about the new restaurant or art gallery in a couple sentences on twitter??
Sorry, Seana. I miss blogging, but unfortunately with the economy in the shitter I literally cannot afford to put off my education any longer. I’ll hopefully be able to blog again once I get my national and state certifications, hopefully later this year (fingers crossed)!
Thanks for the update Rich… Ugh… I ended up getting a twitter account now. This is all your fault *shakes fist*
Boy, does this mean I have to make the plunge too? Does twitter signal the end of blogs? I’m going to hate seeing your posts go.
That said, there was a story on NPR about how the Kogi Truck owed its success to twitter: http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=101881984.
what are you studying ?
Court reporting.
I just don’t like Twitter, but I guess that’s the next “big” thing…
I don’t like Twitter, but thanks for everything Rich. You have truly given us some excellent reporting on downtown. Hope all goes well with your future choices! =)
I don’t know if Twitter is the future. But, for now, it is your alternative. Hopefully, you can maintain your status as a downtown expert during this tweet period.
My concern is your capacity to develop as a writer is constrained by the text size limit. Tweeting ain’t writing. Unless you are a haiku fanatic, that’s not the point. Hopefully, your voice will not be unduly distorted.
I also hope you’ll use this fallow period to think about your writing and what you’d like to do with it.
Believe me, this period is anything but fallow! Well, when it comes to writing, maybe.
hey I saw that you visited the Pershing Square Farmers Market the other day.. is there a chance you might do a small piece on that with the photos you took?? Once a week is better than none.
Best wishes with school!!
all i wish is for angelenic to back to blog form instead of twitter. miss you angelenic <3.
Yuck! I live for the day when this dumb twitter phase has passed. It’s boring as hell to say the least and it comes across as being lazy. I’ve been a follower of angelenic since Day One but now this twitter biz has sent me packing.

rich when are you coming back??????
The only talent Angelenic had was Stephen Friday. Last year when Rich spoke of the site being too much for him Stephen stepped up to the plate to keep it going a few more months. Then Stephen moved, and Angelenic went to shit.

Man i miss rich i work in a drug rehab and only have a limited time on the computer and Angelenic is a waste of my time.
rich when are you coming back. We miss all the articles you used to write on the neighborhood businesses opening.
well I guess it was about time this happened. you’re right, the economy is in the shitter and the bailout hasn’t hit the blogosphere yet, so it makes sense to tighten that belt and drop down do a character limited social networking site. coincidentally I hear Wil-i-am and Anderson Cooper are going to do the same, and you know the old saying…
Also, def keep promoting ed hardy, love that stuff! esp the hats!
Miss ya Rich!
Thanks for the support, everyone. If you’re looking for more posts, I’m doing the occasional write-up on blogdowntown when time affords. Check out the post on Hygge: http://blogdowntown.com/2009/08/4580-hygge-a-comforting-neighbor-in-south-park
Rich, I enjoy reading your write-ups on blogdowntown, but we all miss Angelenic!…hope things work out so you can come back here full time!
Rich can you give us an update on whether you are going to start up Angelenic full time again. Angelenic was THE BIBLE for keeping up with neighborhood businesses and events in Downtown.
i cant believe you gave up the blog for twitter. such a shame…and i thought you were cool.
Eight months later, I’ve just finished taking the “bar exam” for my industry. I’m moving on in my life, but who knows what will happen in the future.
hey rich, i know you’ve moved on w/ your life and that’s great for you, and congrats on finishing your exam, but can you recommend a similar site for downtown events. i agree w/ post #30, i considered this post THE BIBLE for dwtn events, but haven’t found a similar site since. can you approve anything. thanks!
Rich dont even think about approving anything. Just come back and start up ANGELENIC again.
Everything will be all right,I am behind you.
