Here’s the latest on the top ten businesses set to open this month, in no particular order:

Lime Cafe, the fresh/organic Mexican grill at 5th and Spring, is now open, with hours from 12:00pm to 3:00pm, and 6:00pm to midnight (closed Mondays) — margaritas, mojitos and sangria included. Angelenic readers were treated to free drinks this past Sunday as a preview.

In the Financial District, Maria’s Italian Kitchen is waiting on final approvals to move into its mostly completed space at Wilshire and Flower. We’ll keep an eye on this one for you.

And beneath the Financial District, Famima!!’s fourth Downtown location is set to open June 10 at City National Plaza, with free goodie-bag giveaways and gift certificates — and a pollutey mobile billboard. This location will start out with weekday hours only (5:00am to 7:00pm), but the chain is known for expanding hours as time goes on.

Barring any unforeseen holdups (is that even possible?) Crown Cafe will open in the coming weeks. A menu of salads, paninis, soups and high-end coffees isn’t too extraordinary — except that it’s on Los Angeles Street. A public preview was held this past Sunday.
523 S Los Angeles Street, Los Angeles, CA 90013

Panini CafePanini Cafe has been covered recently on angelenic, and we’re still headed toward an end-of-June opening. Staff is currently being hired and trained.
600 W 9th Street, Los Angeles, CA 90015

With an interior undergoing construction, SipTea — the neighborhood’s first teahouse — is aiming for completion by the end of this month. Only time will tell if that target can be met, but it’s not looking hopeful.

Suede Bar is opening June 26, despite an outdated website proclaiming a May debut. LA’s “hottest new celebrity bar” — their words, not mine — is entombed beneath the Westin Bonaventure Hotel at 5th and Flower.

Inspections may be holding up the debut of Origami Bistro & Bar at the Douglas Building, which was supposed to open in early April. I’ve learned over the past year to add two months to every projected opening date in Downtown. Owner Brian Lee couldn’t be reached for comment, but we’ll keep you posted.
257 S Spring Street, Los Angeles, CA 90012

Falafel Express has been delayed (the irony), but restaurant partner Bobby Shethia opines the Historic Core eatery will be open within a couple weeks. Let’s hope my two-month rule doesn’t apply here.

Nothing says “show business” like … ribs? Showbiz Ribs should be opening in the coming weeks now that interior construction is complete. The restaurant should be open till 9:00pm daily.

Church & State’s completed interiors will taunt passersby for this weekend’s Dwell on Design loft tours at the Biscuit Co. Lofts: The restaurant was supposed to be a participant, but it’s unclear whether there will be any staff at the venue by the weekend (we’re guessing not). That being said, there’s three weeks left for Steven Arroyo to open by the end of the month.

UPDATE: Chado Tea Room, previously covered over at blogdowntown, is set to open this Saturday, according to a company representative. Northwest corner of First and Alameda, in the Garden Cafe at the Japanese American National Museum.

Just signed up for Maria’s Kitchen Birthday Club. Wouldn’t have discovered it if you had not provided the link to Maria’s downtown. Thanks.

It looks like the Pastagina on Hope and the Robek’s on Flower are close to opening also. Not exactly “restaurants” but they might be opening up this month too.

Updated to reflect the opening of Chado Tea Room this Saturday at Little Tokyo’s Garden Cafe, in the Japanese American National Museum.

John: I think Pastagina still has a long way to go. Only recently did they move coolers and other items in, and it doesn’t look like work takes place every day.

Robek’s I can’t tell with all the paper on the windows.

I do believe Mypanini Cafe will be open before all of them. They are currently working 7 days a week on the place.

Can’t be - I was at Ralphs after work yesterday and would’ve noticed.

Agreed Stephen. I walked home last night, passing 9th & Flower around 8 pm and did not see any signs of life at the Robeks.
