Industrial Street Restriping, Wrong-wayResidents of Industrial Street woke up to a surprise this morning after LA’s Department of Transportation restriped their street and reversed its flow, which was previously for eastbound-traffic only.

The move is designed to prevent heavy trucks from using the route as a shortcut to the 10 Freeway.

Unfortunately, those who didn’t heed the single “No Parking” sign on the block’s southern side had their cars towed this morning, while befuddled delivery drivers and lofties drove their vehicles the wrong way on the newly reversed one-way street.

There were quite a few ticked-off car owners trying to find the tow yard when I visited the area this morning. A little more signage would have been nice, don’t you think? Anyone with towing information, please let us know in the comments.

UPDATE: Thanks to Industrial District expert Noah Stone, the tow yard’s phone number is 213-687-1003 and they are located at 500 Center Street in the 90012.

Didn’t any signs go up prior to this? People were completely uninformed and unprepared?

Even the one way sign in the bottom picture is still pointing in the wrong direction! No wonder everyone was confused.

Oh wow, good catch! I didn’t notice that until you pointed it out, Shawn.

So, late yesterday, the street finally and officially switched directions. And not one hour after, some parking enforcement guy with extra-large cojones starts writing tickets to the cars parked facing the [now] wrong direction. There was a mob scene of people telling this guy to skeedattle. I was a little worried for him and tried to mediate. It was quite a scene. Eventually he left but he wouldn’t retract any of the tickets.

My girlfriend and I are requesting an impound hearing for the towing. The city did not give proper notice for the temporary tow-away and two signs for an entire block is unacceptable.

Yesterday the City was at war with its citizens. Very uncool.
