I think Pizza Next Door might be the best pizza in downtown. There was a time when I would order delivery from them almost every weekend. One saturday I called and requested delivery (same as always) and was told they don’t deliver to my location and they never have because its too far. Unless I’m completely crazy, I know this isn’t true. I live less than a mile away from them and I’d recieved delivery several times and tipped very well. So…. I’m not sure what the deal is with that. But I was a consistant customer and that seems like bad business practice to me. Next time I’ll try Purgatory Pizza.

Thank you Angelenic.com for telling us Downtown residents about Purgatory Pizza! I’ve lived downtown for 6 years and never heard of them till I read this article - They Are The Best! They deliver to us here at 6th and Main. Great food, friendly service, great prices - It’s our new favorite pizza place!! If it weren’t for your site we never would have found our new fave pizza place. THANKS!! ;-D

Thanks for the mention of Purgatory! We’re the only place downtown that makes everything, dough and all, from scratch. We’ve go real HANDmade pizza in a horrible location, but we’ll deliver pretty dang far. Nice to see you’ve got us as a favorite.

I tried to have food delivered from Jerry's Mexican Grill on Saturday and was told they no longer deliver on weekends. Another very good Mexican place that does deliver on weekends is El Rancho Restaurant. They're very quick and are open from 7am to 7pm every day.

There’s also a free service called Seamless Web that allows you to order, pay and tip online using you credit card. Just type in your address and Seamless Web gives you a list of participating restaurants that deliver in your area. You can browse the menu, which has a good description of the items, add options (chicken, beef, 1/2 order, etc…), leave additional delivery instructions and check out. You get an estimated time of delivery and email confirmation of your order. Seamless Web can even save your favorite orders for convenience.

This service isn’t as well developed as it is in NYC and the participating restaurants for DT are scanty, but you can fill out their online form to request restaurants to be added. Seamless Web will consider approaching a restaurant if there’s enough demand.

I’ve used the service a few times and loved it. Just a word of warning, most DT restaurants charge a delivery fee. Seamless Web itself does not charge the user any sort of fee. I think they make their money through large corporate accounts. http://www.seamlessweb.com
