This weekend, the Westin Bonaventure will get an injection of Hollywood flair when Suede Bar & Lounge makes its splash inside the hotel’s lobby. On Sunday, June 22, an Open House event held from 2:00pm to 4:00pm will celebrate the venue’s debut, followed immediately by the first hour of business.

Suede will be open everyday from 4:00pm to 1:30am, hosting a “4444 Stress-Free Happy Hour” until 7:00pm daily that offers $4 food and drink items aimed at after-work professionals and hotel guests.

The rest of the time, owners Lillian Gastelum and Richard Valenzuela hope their new venue will appeal to a pretentious, faux-celebrity crowd — banking on plush furniture, eclectic tunes, fine cigars, and a palette of crimson and chocolate to bring in the glitterati.

Marketing for downtown establishments and living spaces is getting more and more cheesy. Do downtowners really want manufactured fun? I think not. If this place survives long, it will only be because it’s in a hotel.

Yeahhhhhhhhh …. Celebrities are just dying to go hang out at a bar inside a Westin hotel.

Geez people, give it a chance before you make up your minds. I’ll go try it out. If faux-celebs are there with high attitude I’m outtie.

I’m excited for a new place for happy hour besides McCormick & Shmick’s and Nick & Steffs. Although I will say I agree with SO that it will be hard to create a “happening” lounge inside the Westin.

I dont know what u guys are talking about.
Suede is just what downtown needs. High level lounge w a killer draught lineup. Not to mention $4 happy hour is fantastic.

I thought it would be a cheese fest too- it’s hard to swallow articles like these right- but I went and checked it out and I have to tell you that Suede is sweet. it may be at the Bonaventure but it’s like in it’s own world. the look is all poshed out but the feel is super chill and fun. great drinks and a kickass happy hour ($4) …umm yeah that’s nice. and like I said the vibe is GOOD. check it.

people, it’s fresh. seriously hard to believe it’s at the Westin’cause it’s really plush and I have to say kinda sexy in there. my girls and I had fun. massive glasses of wine for $4 at happy hour + a good DJ. and I agree that it’s chill, which is nice ‘cause that’s just what I want to do.

Went there this last Saturday night. Great lounge! A really nice addition to the LA nighttime scene. The opening on Flower street and the patio give Suede a feel not like that of a normal hotel lounge. Check it out when you get the chance!
