Downtown Los Angeles Blog

angelenic goes group

Looking for information on Downtown LA?

Angelenic is the essential news resource for those living, working and visiting Downtown Los Angeles. Check out our homepage for the latest restaurant, retail, and cultural news in the neighborhood.

RSS or email feeds make it easy to receive angelenic in your inbox every morning!

After an initial proposal and some consideration, my good friend Stephen Friday, active in the angelenosphere under the name “fridayinla” and with an impressive collection of photographic content on flickr, will be joining angelenic.com as a full-access blogger and contributor.

Stephen joins the blog as a resident of the City West district of Downtown Los Angeles. Some initial areas we discussed his covering were construction photo updates, lofts and hotel updates, retail news, architecture opinion, neighborhood opinion, before-and-after building photos, and even a little dabbling in restaurant reviews, among other things. After it was proposed, it didn’t take long to realize that we’d make a good blog team.

One exciting prospect is Stephen’s unique perspective and involvement in the Koreatown and Westlake neighborhoods, which I tend to think of as Downtown’s younger siblings. They’re unique urban neighborhoods, and as new residential, entertainment, and commercial projects pop up west of the 110 Freeway ever closer to MacArthur Park and down Wilshire, the connections between the neighborhoods will become more important to Angelenos and Downtowners in particular.

What started as a personal pet project over a year ago with a focus on the wide geography of the LA Basin but with an eye toward Downtown has grown into a “serious” (or so I’d like to think) source of information for Downtowners; those looking to become Downtowners; tourists; and Angelenos looking to learn a little history and to keep track of just what is happening in our much-talked-about city center, undergoing a renaissance for almost ten years.

There are going to be a few minor surface improvements, such as implementing an author link to see who’s posted what; a new contact form; new author pages; expanded angelenosphere linking; a new construction photo page to showcase the bank of construction updates we’ve collected individually over the past few years; and flickr pool linkage.

Our tagline and objectives remain the same: angelenic.com is a Downtown Los Angeles-based blog providing updates and insight into construction, housing, retail, and history.

I look forward to many great posts from Stephen and welcome him to angelenic!

Charlie,

Thanks for the positive comment! Our goal is definitely to provide as much information for like-minded individuals as ourselves, with construction, retail, and general neighborhood updates. I hope you find our content useful.
