la live’s got new lighting

LA Live ESPN Zone Building Neon Lighting, Downtown Los Angeles hspace=Barely visible during daylight hours, new lighting just above the ground floor of the under-construction ESPN Zone building is a small piece in the evolving LA Live puzzle. The block will one day be filled with bright ads and lights beckoning curious tourists.

Lighting is an integral part of the city’s plans for the area, with digital billboards and supergraphic ads mixed with spotlights and modern, large-scale building illumination.

New buildings surrounding LA Live will integrate the same types of schemes — including the now-complete 717 Olympic with a striking blue hue; the under-construction Concerto condos with their much-publicized Blade Runner-style billboards, and the future LA Central project with digital billboards spanning the length of the project. The Met Lofts has incorporated moving LED squares designed by Electroland in the lobby and on the side of the building.

The area will continue to change once LA Live’s next phase opens up in December.
