revamped california roll & sushi returning to roosevelt
Update: Additional details have been added to the post since publication yesterday.
Chain sushi restaurants… always hit or miss.
Some visitors to Wokcano may agree, but there’s nothing like a little competition nearby to up the ante.
California Roll & Sushi Fish is returning to the Roosevelt Lofts after years of decommission from the loft reconstruction. This time, however, the casual Japanese eatery will be located on the 7th Street side of the building, essentially across the street from its rival restaurant.
An alcohol license application signals the comeback, and property construction manager Bob Grossman confirms the newer version of the restaurant will occupy 3,500 square-feet over two-stories in a revamped setting with two bar areas.
A quick visit to the restaurant’s website tells us to expect nothing out of the ordinary. Varieties of tempura, teriyaki and sushi dishes dominate the menu, all reasonably priced.
California Roll & Sushi currently operates four locations in Los Angeles, maintaining hours from 11:00am to 10:00pm seven days a week for each. Expect a similar situation when the business reopens later this year.

CA Rol & Sushi Fish is very good. I used to go there sometimes when it was on Flower. It’s not really strong competition to Wokano, which is a more upscale. And it certainly is a lot cheaper.
I remember they said they were going to come back again (to the RSVLT) and build out a more upscale restaurant the second time around. They said they were going to do put in a cascading waterfall in the front which a customer would see first thing when he/she comes in through the front.
I’ve never been to CA Roll & sushi, i personally really love East in little Tokyo, would you say this compares, better or worse?
Hey, just what we need! Another sushi place! I’m not a big fan of sushi but I’m also not a fan of saturation. If Starbucks is smart, they’d learn how to incorporate sushi. Perhaps a Sashimiccino! Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy for any new business Downtown but we’re going to have nothing but coffee, sushi and yogurt.
i could live off coffee, sushi and yogurt.

How can you call yourself an Angeleno !! (Sarcasm)
“but I’m also not a fan of saturation.”
No such thing as too much quality sushi in a sushi-capitol like LA. (serious)
Yeah, there’s a whole lot of sushi in LA – but even still, the decent places and better are pretty spread out. I have no experience w/ CA Roll & Sushi, hopefully it’s good.
I agree, Downtown is too saturated with Sushi, Coffee, and Fro-yo. Sashimiccino sounds like an interesting concept.
When does the roosevelt anticipate to start moving people in?
Sashimiccinoberry!
once they finally transition to rental
