GREAT NEWS !!!!!!
You forgot The GRAMMY Museum!
Oh, I didn’t forget it… just didn’t consider it a business tenant. I’ll add it anyway.
Love it!! Its great to see downtown growing up and becoming a great place to live, work and play - all without getting in a car!
I’M BUYING THE FIRST ROUND OF ZOMBIES!!!!
Fanstastic news…
Yeah!! I grew up going to the San Francisco Trader Vic’s. I would often visit the BH location to get my fix of Navy-grogs and poo poo’s (appetizers). Since the BH Trader’s was reduced to a small bar I’ve especially missed the coconut fried shrimp with hot mustard, and the peanut butter spread with brown-bread.
I can’t wait. David
i believe there will also be restaurants inside the two hotels, right?
I hail from a place where we had neither Vic’s nor Joe’s, as far as places ending with “Trader.” At first, I wondered whether the places were related in any way. Anyway, Polynesian sounds interesting.
I can’t wait. I love the Mai Ties!
Lakers and mai ties, my husband will never come home now!
Toph:
Trader Vic’s was the first place to use “Trader” in the name as far as I know, as it dates back to the late 1930’s.
There were several Trader Vic’s rip-off restaurants when the Tiki / Polynesian craze was its height, around 1960, and my favorite was Trader Dick’s! (In hindsight, I wasn’t born yet)
You can see pictures of all this stuff in “The Book of Tiki” by Sven Kirsten, published by Taschen. Highly recommend that book.
Not a eatery but Club Nokia will be there as well.
Anything Polynesian that’s new these days is awesome, bring back the kitsch! But L.A. Live couldn’t be the more wrong, modern setting for anything from the South Seas, but oh well, I’ll take it. Mai Tais, woo-hoo!! Yes, you young, trendy hipsters—rum can make other drinks besides Mojitos! So what happened to P.F. Chang’s?
Forget PF Chang’s ….. It’s all about TRADER VIC’S !!!!
