new luma restaurant to jazz up nightlife

This blog has moved to Twitter! Check out my twitter feed for the latest restaurant, retail, and cultural news in the neighborhood.

LumaEarlier this week angelenic reported rumors of a new restaurant in the works for the recently completed Luma project in South Park. This morning we came across the public hearing notice for an alcohol CUP application at 1100 S. Hope Street which describes the new establishment in more detail:

“… a proposed 6,362 square-foot restaurant with bar and lounge area also having live entertainment which consists of a piano, acoustic guitar and/or a jazz singer, with 80 indoor restaurant seats, 75 indoor bar seats, 68 outdoor restaurant seats and 16 outdoor bar seats for a total of 239 seats, and having hours of operation from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and from 7 a.m. to 2 a.m. on Friday and Saturday. Alcohol service is proposed at the outdoor dining area located on the public sidewalk.

With the Bottle Rock wine bar opening across the street, this block of 11st Street is shaping up to become a lively pocket for nightlife. That is unless Assistant Zoning Administrator Daniel Green has any problems with South Park’s property values increasing. Since Bottle Rock’s initial alcohol CUP request was denied (and being appealed), we may have another controversy on our hands.
