‘after work’ lounge to open this month in financial district
The construction market in Downtown may be crumbling before our eyes, but everyone can agree that the nightlife scene in our part of the city has never been so lively. On June 22, even the stale northwest sector of the Financial District will see some new boozing action with the debut of Suede Bar & Lounge.
Previously described as the “hottest new celebrity bar” — newly released details depict Suede as hangout for a much different crowd, thankfully. With its location just off Flower Street inside the Westin Bonaventure Hotel, General Manager Joe Eagan hopes to lure in the after-work professionals (and international travelers) as “a place to unwind before hitting the Downtown traffic.”
And he’s using some convincing bait.
Expect all the usual bar drinks and appetizer dishes, but get your fill for under $20! Suede will host a “4444 Stress-Free Happy Hour” daily from 4:00 to 7:00pm that includes $4 well drinks, $4 wine, $4 drafts and $4 appetizers (which normally average $8 a plate).
If sipping Cognac isn’t your style, a selection of fine cigars and a comfortable, plush interior with eclectic tunes and soft lighting may be enough to take your mind off rush hour. And as its name implies, patrons will be lounging on lots of overly-coordinated suede finishes.
For those Downtowers who don’t require all the fancy indulgences or need a break from long commutes, consider grabbing an alcohol-free beverage and kicking back with free WiFi on the outdoor patio.

This is sorely needed
Not sure though what I think about the bar being in the Bonaventure. At least it’s across the street from the Johnny Rockets.
When will Bottle Rock be opening?
They are supposed to have an incredible grape milkshake!
Bottle Rock hasn’t even started construction. Can I get a big “never” up in here?
I s this bar in any way associated with The Ultra Suede on the west side? if so, I’m there if you know what I mean!!! I’ll bring my guy friends. Anyways, I’ll check it out, though I’m not too keen on the Bonaventure, old and stale… I hope they validate.
I don’t think they’re associated, Ryan, but there’s something else in the works for the boys =)
What’s in the works for the boys? Why the tease? Too soon—might jinx it?
