another fro-yo chain opens in little tokyo
We all knew it was coming, but it actually arrived on schedule!
Pinkberry and CeFiore move over, there’s yet another fro-yo shop in town, and this time it’s self-serve! Yogurtland officially opened Saturday afternoon on Central Avenue in Little Tokyo across from Pastigina.
To differentiate themselves from the competition, Yogurtland offers a variety of flavors, in addition to smoothies and shaved ice. Oh, and you get to pack on as many toppings as you want. Even with all the other frozen dessert choices within a three minute walk — including S&W Little Tokyo Ice Cream, Mikawaya and Piccomolo — this place will surely hold its own.

geez. I used to eat at the one in Tustin back in ..um… 1990? When I was 10! Something like that. I cant believe that are still around.. and look at the COMING SOON locations. Holy crap! All I can say is that when I was a regular, I was half my current height, and twice the weight. Self-serve toppings? Be careful!
Did somebody say “self-serve toppings”?!! This is the type of yogurt place we red blooded ‘mericans been waitin’ fer…
tried this place saturday night. very friendly manager (owner?), helpful staff (going so far as to give us no less than 10 sample cups so that we might try every flavor), and pretty damned good froyo. the regular and green tea flavors were not QUITE on par with pinkberry, but still very good, and the rest of the flavors were delicious. at roughly half the price of pinkberry, yogurtland has me sold.
Nothing says microbes like self-serve toppings!
LOVED IT!! - so refreshing, and so many selections, what to choose what to choose is my only dilemma. But word of advice, don’t get all 16 all at once, cause it starts to melt and mix, and have no idea what your tasting - go for 2 or 3 at a time, and then topple on the granola and so good for you - walnuts, my very best choice. Love the price, at just $0.30 an ounce can’t beat that. Could improve on the music - add some vocals to it.
I’ve been to the one in Hollywood and it soon became my go-to spot for froyo.
You can control the portions, so you’re not spending almost $6 like at Pinkberry. That’s just too much. I can get out of this place for about $3, with a smallish but satisfying tub.
Just use your spoon for the toppings, people, and respect the sneeze guard over the toppings bar! It’s there for a REASON!
I got a decent amount of (strawberry) yogurt with all the walnuts and shortbread pieces I could handle… for $1.87.
Sorry, Pinkberry.
oh my !! finally, frozen yogurt that won’t break my wallet. A+ on tast and A++ on price! Retail 101 baby ~ many selections and low prices. bye bye pinkypinky /_\
