cinco de mayo!
It doesn’t seem all that long ago our calendars turned from 2007 to 2008 and now we find ourselves already on the 5th of May. It is difficult to fathom how this ‘new’ year is so close to being half-over. Summer is just around the corner and this recent heat wave certainly reminds us of it.
It’s getting to be the time for BBQs, ice cream cones, pool parties, hitting the beach and anything that involves being outdoors and soaking up the sun.
How are you, my fellow Angelenos, celebrating this glorious Cinco de Mayo? Perhaps you have a yearly ritual, or perhaps you are trying something new. I invite you to share your libation plans with the rest of us. Where can one go to find the best margarita in town? Shall we attempt a Downtown Cinco de Mayo round-up?
Let me start by listing a few Cinco de Mayo activities I know of hereabouts:
- Seven Restaurant- Cinco de Mayo Celebration with five different sangrias and Mexican beer, 5pm-7pm
- Ralph’s Supermarket (wine tasting nook)- “Celebrate Cinco de Mayo with Mexican food and California wine pairings” for $12, 5pm-8pm
- Cinco de Mayo Party at The Standard Rooftop- starts at 9pm, RSVP required (click on link to sign up)
Ironically the Olvera Street Cinco de Mayo celebration ended yesterday, May 4th.
I am sure there are many more festivities around town, but we won’t know unless you tell us about them…
(The Duran Duran event at Nokia Theater was removed because it was erroneously listed as a May 5 event on the ‘Going Los Angeles’ website. The event was actually on May 4. My apologies.)
