Downtown Los Angeles Skyline at Night

kor group planning a new lounge in south park

1212 South Flower Street Restaurant, Kor Group, Kelly ArchitectureAfter purchasing a new headquarters building in Downtown earlier this year (relocating from the Miracle Mile), the Kor Group is planning a new restaurant/lounge for the ground floor of their future offices at 1212 S. Flower Street.

The 8,580 square-foot space is being designed by Kelly Architects (The Edison, Royal Claytons, Seven Grand, Broadway Bar) and will seat 353 patrons in two dining rooms, a lounge, outdoor patio and a piano bar.

This newest proposal makes one wonder just how many piano bars and jazz lounges Downtown can handle.

Still, if this project turns out to be anywhere near the quality of Kelly Architects’ other projects, it will help activate South Park’s currently deficient (but growing) nightlife scene. And with Blue Line access literally steps away, the new restaurant may finally be a way to bring more of the Staples/Nokia crowd out into Downtown after events.

We’ve contacted the developers and will update with more information as it becomes available. In the meantime, check out the proposed floorplan.

This is in an existing building on the south side of 12th.

The lot next to Flower St Lofts was the Robinson Building that was demolished for a parking lot recently.

Go Kor! They should be in downtown, just like CIM should be in hollywood.
