famima!! still taking over downtown, new location opening next month
Given Famima’s significant expansion throughout Southern California with Los Angeles as a home base, it’s no surprise that the quirky convenience chain has made Downtown LA a top priority.
The trend continues early next month, with the fourth Downtown location opening at City National Plaza’s underground mall. Good coffee and better steamy buns, what more could a stressed-out office worker ask for?
No word on how many stores the company will be opening in Downtown, but according to a company representative, “Downtown is a very attractive location.”
-famima!! restructuring, but downtown’s pork buns safe for now

The 6th Street location is pretty close to the Historic Core. Maybe one more at 2nd and San Pedro?
i can think of one great potential location, but there’s already a pet store there.
So they’re opening another store 2 blocks away? Smart.
Is that gonna stay open late, or close when all the other food places close?
I think its a smart choice. The City National Plaza location will benefit from all the workers that are in the surrounding buildings. Especially in the morning and at lunch time. After all it is about convenience.
Dave it might be 2 blocks away” horizontally”, but the “customers” are “vertically”. 1,000’s in those buildings.
I like and frequent the Famima at 800 S.Figueroa.
I think a perfect location for the next Famima! should be on Spring Street somewhere… maybe between 6th & 7th streets… so many amazing residential buildings everywhere, within 8 months after Barry Shy is complete with his projects. 1 block alone… over 3,000 Lofts! It would centrally cater to the Spring street residential corridor (3rd-8th) , and the remaining historic core.
